Sunday Run Information
One
of the most important
training sessions in any runners diary has to be the long slow run and
WRR have just the run for everyone.
Every Sunday morning we meet
for a friendly, social get together and we throw in
a multi-terrain run for good measure.
The routes are varied and very
enjoyable, taking in bridleways, road, country fields and everything
else in between.
At Wootton Road Runners the
emphasis is on running as a group, the pace is always controlled with
faster runners regularly re-turning to the pack and there are plenty of
stops to re-group and keep everyone together.
All you need to be
confident of is your ability to run for a minimum of 90 minutes at
a controlled pace, we seldom cover more than 10 miles, averageing about
9 minutes per mile.
Many members who are marathon training and are at the "big mileage" stage have used the Sunday run and added on miles to suit their programmes. It is an ideal way to overcome the lonliness and drudgery of those long training runs. No-one is
allowed to fall
behind or to feel they are holding up proceedings; that's simply not
what our Sunday runs are about.
WRR Sunday Runs are about a
group of like minded people enjoying a long, gentle run together as a
group. No pressure, just good company.
Whatever the weather may throw
at us, we always end with a cup of tea, a slice of cake (or two) and a
social chat for 10 minutes or so before heading off home.
We meet at 8:45am for a prompt
start at 9:00am.
The details are posted on this
page weekly and as a WRR Member, you will receive the information via
our regular email service.
We hope these details might
encourage you to try a Sunday Run, you'll be so glad you did and we'll
be very pleased to see you - go on, give it a go!
If you need any further
information or would just like to chat a few things over, please
telephone Terry on 07706 990841
See you soon then.
